How does Voicemail to Text work?

What Is Voicemail to Text?
Voicemail to Text is a postpaid service available in English and Spanish that converts voicemail messages into text that is delivered in a text message, e‐mail, or both. Voicemail to Text is voicemail (VM) on your terms.

This feature is a great solution for:

  • Busy lifestyles who rarely have time to listen to a list of voicemail messages.
  • Those who would prefer to check their VM discretely (ie. students, professionals, etc).
  • Anyone who is frequently in a noisy environment where it may be hard to hear audio messages.

Instead of dialing in to check messages, customers can read their voicemail as an e‐mail or text message, skimthrough messages quickly, read what’s important, respond /forward via text or e‐mail, or call back later. Bestof all, receiving voicemail as text messages doesn’t count against their Text Messaging Plans. (Receiving e‐mailmessages does incur data charges.)Voicemail to Text is discreet, flexible, time‐saving and efficient – This is voicemail delivered on your terms.

Voicemail to Text Feature Options

Customers can choose from three delivery options:
  • Option 1: Delivered as text message (VMTT) – Voicemail messages are converted into text and delivered as a text message.
    • Incoming converted messages do not count against the customer's text messaging bucket.
    • Standard messaging charges apply for messages forwarded/replied to via text messaging.
    • Customer’s account cannot have text messaging blocked.
  • Option 2: Delivered as e‐mail (VMEM) – Voicemail messages are converted and delivered as an e‐mail message to any e‐mail address the subscriber chooses.
    • E‐mail messages received, forwarded or replied to will count against the customer's data plan bucket .
    • This option does not require a text messaging feature.
    • Customers account cannot have data blocked.
  • Option 3: Delivered as text and e‐mail (VMTB) – Voicemail messages are converted and delivered as both an e‐mail and text message.
    • Incoming converted messages do not count against the customer's text messaging bucket.
    • Standard messaging charges apply for messages forwarded/replied to via text messaging.
    • E‐mail messages received, forwarded or replied to will count against the customer's data plan bucket .
    • If a customer selects this option, they will receive each message twice – as a text message and also as an e‐mail.

Voicemail to Text Compatibility
  • Moving from Basic VM to VM to Text will cause the customer to lose mailbox messages/greetings. They will need to setup a new mailbox. Recommend that customers listen to all current messages prior to adding the Voicemail to Text feature. Critical “Must Know” Information
  • Moving from Visual Voicemail to VM to Text will not cause the customer to lose their messages as long as the seller removes Visual Voicemail and adds the voicemail to text in the same order. If Visual Voicemail is removed from a customer’s account , the order is completed, and VM to Text is added in a different transaction/order, the customer’s voicemail messages will be lost.
  • Comporium Does not Guarantee 100% Accuracy Voicemail to Text service makes every effort to convert a customer's voicemail message as accurately as possible, but the service does not guarantee 100% accuracy. For example, translation issues can occur when a caller leaves a voice message while experiencing a bad connection, or calling from a noisy location, or talking too fast for the voice message to record accurately.
  • Feature not available for iPhone.
  • Note: Additional charges apply to forwarding/replying to text/e‐mail messages, when roaming internationally. Receiving e‐mail also incurs data charges.
