How can I tell if my cable modem is functioning properly?


Depending on the modem model you have, there are two different light patterns to determine connectivity (lights may be in a different order). Lights highlighted in bold indicate cable network connectivity.

Pattern 1
  • Power: Solid
  • Cable: Solid
  • PC: Solid
  • Data: Flashing
  • Test: Off
Pattern 2
  • Power: Solid
  • Downstream (DS): Solid
  • Upstream (US): Solid
  • Online: Solid
  • Link: Solid/Flashing
  • Toshiba PCX1100/PCX1100U
  • Front Panel (Top to Bottom)
    o Power: Solid
    o Cable: Solid
    o PC: Solid
    o Data: Flashing
    o Test: Off

    Rear Panel (Top to Bottom)
